What People Love About Esports
What People Love About Esports
Esports is certainly becoming big news. A lot has changed since the early days of gaming. Today I am going to be discussing some of the different reasons why people love esports so much and what makes esports so special in people’s eyes. I’m going to be talking about the different types of esports games and what they hold for the individual. I want to discuss how esports builds on our personality, helping to create better people, team players, and professionals on many levels. The intrigue in all the different areas of esports and all the different angles, sites, communities and engagement. Finally, I’m going to get into why esports is so special to me personally and how much I love esports. Are you ready to fall in love with esports? Pucker up!
There are so many different types of games, in general, though it is interesting to see which games have made the transition into fully-fledged esports games that can be played in tournaments for prizes and real money. Here is a full list of all the different esports games and their genre. God knows I haven’t played all of them! There are so many now…
Everyone likes different kinds of games, so it is easy to see why there are so many. But remember, there was a time when there were less than 5 esports games that people played competitively around the world. Different types of esports games appeal to different kinds of people because of our differences in character, skill sets, reflexes vs. intelligence, community differences, preferences, enjoyability to the individual, the scale of professionality, what is available, what we are exposed to and even just what our friends might be playing. One thing is for sure, most people who play esports on any level, have an introverted, thoughtful personality and those who succeed at esports tend to be very resourceful, open-minded, cooperative, driven, intelligent and passionate.
Just participating in esports, without even being successful, can be very enjoyable. This is because the fact that you are participating in a competition makes the act of gaming, more than a game by itself, but something more… Not only can you win at esports, but you can also achieve. There is a very important difference between these two ideas. Winning is all about instant gratification, satisfaction, and exhilaration, whilst achievement can often mean more than simply winning because achievements are things that we can look back on, that we can share with teammates or show to other people. Because achievements are admired and aspired to by other players, with some even being inspirational, this means that achievements can mean that your name is written up in lights forever, or your high score might never be beaten. You might even become one of the best players of all time. It’s important to note that the only way accomplishments can be accurately measured in a reliable structure and fashion, is because esports exists in the first place. So, in giving players the opportunity of doing so much more than just winning, esports gives players the ability to really make meaningful and worthwhile achievements, something which can even be uplifting and meaningful for others and which means a lot, more than just winning a computer game at home in the dark!
Once you’ve been playing esports for a while, you’ll start to notice that you start changing as a person and even as a professional in your everyday life. This is because in order to get better at esports, we are challenged and, in some ways, forced to change who we are and what we think, to improve at the games. Sometimes this journey can be transformational and can help to shape the kind of person we are when we become adults, effecting how we treat and listen to others, how we respect other people’s decisions, actions, and leadership. Esports makes you into a better, more reflective and thoughtful person in a lot of ways. Esports players spend a lot of time alone playing and thinking. They are exposed to what people think about them and have to make a lot of sacrifices in their life. This can lead the player to see the ugly side of people as well as their positive attributes, building genuine respect for relationships with the knowledge that real-life relationships need attention and care, or they will fall apart and possibly even disappear.
One of the biggest things people love about esports is possibility. The possibilities of success, failure, triumph, disgrace, embarrassment, invincibility, perfection, dominance and especially the possibility of becoming rich and famous. These days, the top esports athletes are very much admired for their skills, by the public, with the content being made about them and circulated online, all the time. Everyone has some kind of ego and recognition serves to fuel our sense of accomplishment and success, which people desperately crave, as today’s society is becoming increasingly isolated because of social media. Put it this way, if you want to become a famous actor, you know you have to put in a lot of work, do many performances and applications to be selected. With esports, it's availability is a huge factor because all people need to do is download a free game, make a few friends and do something they enjoy doing and that isn’t strenuous in order to have a shot at making something of themselves in the industry. So, it’s really not very hard at all to have an esports dream and to nurture it. Remember, your esports dream is worthwhile and important.
There are many other areas of esports that people are attracted to of course. A big factor is the fact that it is also a huge spectator sport. People simply love watching and experiencing esports. This is because esports activates both the creative and mathematical sides of the brain, stimulating the audience to not only enjoy the gameplay but engage and participate in the action by chatting in the live feed, watching with friends or thinking about how they would have played the games differently and how they can improve themselves. Esports are skill-based sports just like any other sport. The main reason people like to watch professional esports is so they can see what the top players are doing and say “WOW!”. People love to see awe-inspiring acts of prowess and magnificence because it inspires them to be better players and have hope and trust that there are amazing gifts and people in this world. These feelings warm people’s hearts, allowing them to feel invigorated, touched and inspired. But most of all, peoples just like being impressed!
Participating in esports means so much more than just hitting up an esports game and expecting to do well. Another huge reason why people love esports is because of the wild and wacky communities and how they can interact and participate in them. There are huge online communities for tournaments, participation, team creation, tactics, tips and tricks and of course, for the esports games themselves. Players love sitting back in their favorite communities and discussing esports, making their picks for winners, betting on esports and generally getting involved, especially in the more stupid and fun conversations that happen in the live chat during a huge, major tournament!
Esports is special to me (Justprobro) because, when I was a child, it gave me an escape from reality and from my family. I didn’t have the easiest time growing up, with conflicting relationships and troubles at school, I loved the games because in them I didn’t have to be anyone or prove anything to other people. If I failed I wouldn’t get into trouble and have to see the teacher, I could simple replay a game (not necessarily an esports one) until I won or at least, felt like I had given it a good go (then I would whip out the cheat codes and smash that shit! lol). Once I got into esports I found that it was something I was good at and that I could even set my own standards for success despite what other people thought of me, I could be a winner and a dominant force. I wanted to become the person I chose to be, not something that people thought was best for me. So, esports gave me an avenue and a reason to challenge myself to be the best person I could be. As you all know, I have come a long way because of esports and am now considered an industry leader because of my influence and because of the work I have done. I want you to know that this is all possible for you too because in esports the sky is the limit and it is whatever you want it to be. It doesn't have to be hard, but it should always be fun.
So, get passionate and fall in love with gaming and esports and who knows where you will end up one day. You might surprise yourself if you start believing that esports is the way forward for you. You’re going to have to play hard and believe in yourself if you want to get anywhere but I can guarantee you will learn so much about yourself and other people, building on skills that will help you in relationships and make you a more well-rounded and beautiful person. Reach out into the unknown and dedicate yourself to the possibility that there is hope for you to make great achievements in this life because deep down you know that you are special and that you are worth it.
Keep loving on esports guys!
