Salmon Fishing Tips for Beginners
The appeal of Salmon fishing is spreading. What is more fun than enjoying the thrill of catching such a beautiful fish?
However beginners need a few salmon fishing tips before they venture out to the water
First of all beware of cheap tackle. Over the past few years the cost of tackle has dropped immensely, but you still need to take care in what you buy. Go to your local tackle shop rather than a general store. Here the owner will make sure you buy good equipment. Ask him what the best tackle is for you
One of the most important things is to get a good pole with a sensitive tip, probably 9 or 10 feet long. On this you want a good reel. This is probably the most important part of your equipment. A poor reel means hours on the side of the bank untangling your line baitcasting reel.
You can't catch fish if your bait is not in the water, can you?
It is also a good idea to get some good quality waders if you are river fishing, poor ones ted to leak quickly and who wants to get wet in the middle of the stream?
Beware of local rules and regulations. In many states, there are restrictions on salmon fishing and you need to be aware. You may need a special license and there is probably restriction on the time of the year when salmon is prohibited. There are probably limits on how many fish and what type you are allowed to catch. Again your local tackle store will have all the information.
